Equipment Material Upgrade¶
Material Upgrade moves an established non-Cursed weapon or armor piece to a higher material while retaining the target item's Runeforged properties.
Smithing Table Slots¶
| Template | Base | Addition |
|---|---|---|
| Reforging Stone | Equipment to upgrade | Higher-material blank weapon of the same family or armor of the same slot |
The addition must be blank: Common quality, with no Runeforged data, variant, Rune archetype, pending affix roll, custom name, or enchantments.
Weapon Upgrade¶
Supported families are Sword, Axe, Spear, Dagger, Rapier, Greatsword, and Scythe. The addition must belong to the same family and have a higher material rank.
Weapon order:
Wood / Gold → Stone → Copper → Iron → Diamond → Netherite
Wood and Gold share a rank and cannot upgrade into one another.
Armor Upgrade¶
Standard Helmets, Chestplates, Leggings, and Boots are supported. The addition must use the same equipment slot.
Armor order:
Leather → Copper → Chainmail → Gold / Iron → Diamond → Netherite
Gold and Iron share a rank and cannot upgrade into one another; Gold can move only to Diamond or Netherite. Turtle Shells and Elytra are outside this standard armor upgrade system.
Retained Properties and Restrictions¶
- The target retains quality, regular affixes, Legendary Affix, Sealed Affixes, Infusion, Transmutation, special weapon variant, and other Runeforged data.
- The resulting item type and base attributes come from the higher-material addition.
- The result uses the blank addition's durability state.
- Cursed equipment cannot be upgraded.
- Only movement to a higher material is allowed; same-rank conversion and downgrading are not supported.
